Friends

What would life be like without friends? I'd venture to say we'd all be selfish, self-centered, lazy, violent creatures. If you look at world history, it seems that human nature is violent, self-serving, and gluttonous. The relationships we call friends are vital in our lives to teach us so many lessons. They keep us humble when we think too highly of ourselves and need a swift kick in the rear. They build us up when we feel like we're inadequate. The teach us selflessness when we help them with their problems. They comfort us through our problems. The thing is ... even though no one can find solutions to your problems except for you, it makes a world of difference to have someone there to give you a hug or hold your hand through the tough times. No one can make important decisions for you, but they can stand by you when you have to make them for yourself.Friendship is Heavenly Father's way of sending angels to surround you and wrapping his arms around your heart. The hard thing about that, is we have to accept it. We can have friends who are there to help us, but if we don't let them in, what good does it do? We help others in need, but we also help others by letting them help us. One of the Lord's tender mercies, I think.
